風の ならまち
4 Nishijodocho, Nara City, Nara 630-8345, Japan
風の ならまち (Kaze no Naramachi) is a heritage-oriented hotel in Naramachi, Nara, occupying the former home of Toyosawa Sake Brewery at 4 Nishijodocho. Formerly known as NIPPONIA HOTEL Nara Naramachi, it was renamed in June 2026 as part of the operator’s move to the Kazeno Heritage brand. The property works as an overnight base for travelers who want the old town, historic architecture, and Nara’s sake culture to shape the stay. The building was restored from a traditional residence connected to Toyosawa Sake Brewery, a Nara producer with a long history. Its architecture retains old beams, plaster walls, storehouse structures, and a deep site with garden spaces, while the rooms adapt former domestic and brewery-related areas for lodging. The property’s identity is therefore architectural as well as hotel-based: guests stay inside a preserved piece of the town’s working sake history rather than a newly built hotel styled with generic historic touches. Sake is the organizing theme of the experience. The restaurant pairs local ingredients with French cooking, and the hotel connects meals with sake made by Toyosawa. It has a limited number of individually varied rooms, including layouts that make use of former storehouse and domestic spaces, while the current brand presents the stay as a way to encounter the wider town through food, drink, craft, and local stories. The combination gives the property a more interpretive character than a standard business hotel, with the building itself part of the itinerary. Plan it for travelers who prefer a characterful accommodation base and are interested in Nara beyond its major temple precincts. The hotel is best understood as a stay, not a sightseeing attraction with open-ended drop-in access; restaurant visits may be possible separately, but check current reservation and access conditions. Use the Japanese name 風の ならまち when searching maps, and keep the former NIPPONIA name in mind during the transition because older booking and map records may still show it. The location supports walking through Naramachi while returning to a place shaped by sake and restored domestic architecture.
